IMCEAMAILTO -> NDR    working with Exchang 2010 SP1 and Outlook 2010
User receives the following error message when sending a e-mail message: (Translated from Dutch) Your message could not be delivered to the following recipients or groups: 'Stefan.user@trxxxs.nl' (MAILTO:Stefan.user@trxxxs.nl) <mailto:IMCEAMAILTO-Stefan%2B2Euser%2B40trxxxs%2B2Enl@domain.nl> The local domainname (domain.nl) is added to the e-mail address, exchange does not know this recipient and sends an NDR. A similar problem is discussed here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/exchangesvradmin/thread/56b2d50d-6855-444b-abed-89aaa9176a9f The solution was, uninstall an Word 2007 update (KB2344993) But we are using Office 2010. Some suggest empty the AutoComplete List, but this does not solve the problem (and isn't an real solution) Tips (or solution) are welcome. Thanks in advance.

I assume you are sending internal>internal? It could be a cached entry,when specifying the recipient in the To: field if the recipient comes up, delete it and try again. Test sending to that recipient via via OWA. Create a new profile as a test Test sending using online mode if working in cache mode. Sukh

Thanks for you're help. 1. No, mail is send from internal to -> External 2. Delete the cached entry, type the e-mail address in the to: field and everything works fine. 3. Owa don't uses cached entry's so i could not reproduce in OWA. 4. Same problem with new profile. 5. Users are working in on-line mode. Different users from different customers reporting the same problem. (2 customers, 8 users so far) Today i did some testing and found a way to reproduce the problem, just type: [mailto:user@domain.nl] (including the brackets) in the to field in outlook and click send. Then you receive an ndr, and the mail address is added to your cached addresses. probably users click on mailto links in html e-mail and webpages. Is there a way to solve this issue or an workaround Richard

Hello, we experience a similar problem with Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 since last week. If you forward an e-mail with a mailto link in it, Outlook 2010 malforms the mailto link like mailto:[mailto:user@domain.com]. If the recipient of this forwarded mail uses the malformed mailto link, he gets a NDR like the one in the first post because the internet type of the address will be MAILTO instead of SMTP. It is the same behavior like 2007 described in the mentioned thread above. I will be happy for any suggestions to solve this. Thank you all in advance. Andreas

Hi Andreas, Thanks a million for you're feedback, this is very helpful for me and other readers. My customers had recently installed Office 2010 SP1, witch makes sense reading your findings. It looks like MS reintroducing an old problem. So as Sukh suggested it should be reported to Microsoft. I'm going to test your workaround, if i find the suggested regkey or GPO i let you know. Hello everyone, I am also having the same issue as described by Andreas. I have exchange 2007 Sp2 update Rollup 5 and office 2010 SP1, after installing Sp1 for office this issue started occurring. This setting corrects the issue : File->Options->Mail->Editor Options...->AutoCorrect-Options...->AutoFormat Tab->Replace named "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks". After I uncheck that box, I then delete the cached email and retype in the full email address, then the user is able to send without getting an NDR. Is there a way to resolve this for everyone as it seems like its becoming a real issue?

Hi Same thing just started here with a couple of new users. We're running Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2010. I found that emptying the Auto-Complete cache and unticking the "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks" worked for me also. Luckily this has so far only effected 2 out of 300 users! But if it wasn't for the thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/56b2d50d-6855-444b-abed-89aaa9176a9f I could of spent ages on this. It wasn't until I tried it as the user from within our citrix farm, where Outlook doesn't run in cached mode did Exchange give me a meaningful (sort of) error message. Hi Andreas, Today i found the registry key for the outlook settings File->Options->Mail->Editor Options...->AutoCorrect-Options...->AutoFormat Tab-> Internet and network paths with hyperlinks Unfortunately its a combination key for many settings, but i hope its helps. Hi, Two users currently affected on my network but that is just the two who have reported it. Office 2010 SP1 and Exchange 2010 in place. Many thanks for all the suggestions on here and I have just rolled out the registry key above in GPO which has sorted the problem for now, Regards, Allan

Thank you #Nova-Richard. This worked for me as well. I made a GPO with the reg changes. To bad it affects all settings in the Autoformat tab. Microsoft should really make all these settings available in Group Policy in the future. We have a language department which I know changes some of these "standard" settings. I'll just have to deal with that, when the complaints begin poring in :)

HI! Yes, but it's working only when the email address is formatted like this: mailto:emailaddress or [mailto:emailaddress] However, what about the multiple email turns? Many of cases the hyperlinks formatted like this: mailto:[mailto:emailaddress] So, the mailto: part is doubled. In that case the patch does not work at all.

Found this thread today looking for a solution - turns out this update doesn't fix it at all, as it's installed and it's still happening. Did anyone ever find a GPO setting to do what the manual settings "fix" does?
